Questions about GST/HST
When do I have to register for GST/HST?
Generally once your taxable supplies pass $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive quarters. Some businesses, such as taxi and rideshare drivers, must register from their first sale.
What's the Quick Method?
A simplified way for eligible small businesses to calculate the HST they remit, using a set percentage of sales instead of tracking each input tax credit. It isn't always cheaper, so we compare both.
I file annually. When is my return due?
For most annual filers it's three months after the fiscal year-end. Individuals with business income and a December 31 year-end have until June 15 to file, but payment is still due April 30.
